Saturday Shopping – The Great House at Kilver Court

home_heart_harmony_saturday_shopping_kilver_courtToday I am launching a new series of posts in which I will share my favourite places to purchase items for the home – both online and in person. Over time, I will endeavour to have an even mix of local, national and online vendors (something to please everyone!) This week, it’s a little gem which is local to me and every time I visit, I love the place more and more #supportlocal

home_heart_harmony_saturday_shopping_kilver_courtThe Great House is part of the Kilver Court Designer Village in Shepton Mallet, Somerset and this is the perfect time to visit because their Christmas Room is a treat not to be missed.

home_heart_harmony_saturday_shopping_kilver_courtI’m afraid I got rather over-excited taking photos of all the Christmas treasures #sorrynotsorry

home_heart_harmony_saturday_shopping_kilver_courtI am a massive fan of Christmas and I can’t wait to go again with the rest of the family so that we can observe our yearly tradition of picking out a new ornament for the tree.

home_heart_harmony_saturday_shopping_kilver_courtThat pink one has my name all over it and how cute are those little nutcracker characters? I believe they have the whole cast available!

However, The Great House is not just about Christmas and the interiors addict in me always finds it very difficult not to get carried away. There really is an array of temptation. It’s pretty much my dream shop!

As the Kilver Court website promises, ‘the Great House is an Aladdin’s Cave filled with quirky, creative pieces waiting to be discovered…from contemporary designs to shabby chic, it’s an exciting mix you won’t find anywhere else! With internationally recognised brands like William Edwards, Pip Studios and Heathcote Ivory sitting alongside local artistic talents such as Bertie & Jack, you’ll be spoilt for choice.’

home_heart_harmony_saturday_shopping_kilver_courtI particularly love the selection of stationery (you know I am obsessed!) and the home accessories – these colourful lamps and cushions really were calling out to me. I was planning a whole home office design around them in my head before I left the building!

home_heart_harmony_saturday_shopping_kilver_courtThere is a whole ‘heaven-scent’ room (see what I did there?) dedicated to soaps, perfumes, lotions and potions as well as a little cavern of kitchen delights and all the stocking fillers you could ever need in the ‘House of Marbles’ room.

As luck would have it, The Great House are holding a special Christmas shopping evening THIS Thursday (17th November) between 5.30 and 8.00pm so if you are in the area, you can get 20% off all Christmas decorations as well as enjoying some mulled wine, minced pies and Christmas Carols courtesy of a local children’s choir.

There is also a Christmas Fair taking place at Kilver Court on Saturday 10th December for those who have little ones that may like to meet the big man himself – I am told he will be bringing his reindeer too!

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I have bought a couple of things but I really need to get going – I leave it too late every. single. year! Perhaps I’ll catch you at The Great House on Thursday when I’ll be making a start!!

If you have a local business you would like to see featured on Home Heart Harmony Saturday Shopping, please do not hesitate to contact me – details on the ‘Contact Me’ link at the top of the page.
